it is simplest to think of this album as part II of my earlier landscape stories, not that this was intentional, rather because they grew from the same intense period of work and now assert their relationship.
familiar will be my pattern of creating a long-form composition from several distinct passages – a working method that i intuitively gravitated towards over 25 years ago, and still find deeply engaging as a way to experience sound. i tend not to think of the individual passages as living outside of the overall arrangement, so are not presented as a series of tracks. instead, their meaning is informed and amplified by what precedes and follows in the duration of the album.
